Why Didn't I Get an LMN for My Purchase?
If you checked out with Truemed and didn’t receive a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), your purchase may be pre-approved. Pre-approved products are recognized as qualified medical expenses on their own, so Truemed doesn’t issue an LMN for them.
What is a pre-approved purchase?
Most products bought through Truemed need an LMN to show they’re being used to treat or prevent a specific health condition. Pre-approved products are different. They’re medical by nature, so they’re generally recognized as eligible HSA/FSA expenses without any additional documentation.
For a pre-approved purchase:
- You don’t need to complete a health survey.
- Truemed doesn’t issue an LMN.
- You won’t see an LMN for that order in your Truemed dashboard.
If your administrator asks for an LMN
Some administrators request an LMN by default, even for pre-approved items. Here’s what to do:
- Download your receipt. Log in to your dashboard at truemed.com. Your receipt is in the Download Documents section on your Overview page, or in the individual order in the Orders tab.
- Submit your receipt to your administrator. Upload it through your administrator’s portal as the documentation for your purchase. For a pre-approved purchase, the itemized receipt is typically the only documentation needed.
- Contact us if your administrator still asks for an LMN. Email support@truemed.com with your order number or the email address you used at checkout, the merchant name, and a copy of your administrator’s request or denial notice. We’ll help you respond.
Your HSA/FSA administrator makes the final decision on any reimbursement request.
